Burn The Letter

i saw the new Batman movie last night and it was as great as everyone's been saying it would be. Ironman, The Hulk, Batman, Hellboy... there are trailers for The Spirit and The Watchman as well. All these comic book movies bombarding the silver screen this year. There is no mystery to this phenomena though.

To look back at when most of the big comic book superheros were created it was during troubling times: wars, social unrest, political change. Now that we as a country, and a planet, are going through such tough times it makes perfect sense that people are looking for heroes in entertainment, in their escape from everyday reality.

It's art doing what is always has done: saving us from our everyday lives. Hopefully our everyday lives will eventually catch up with our art.
