How many heads?

Star Wars, 80's horror movies, and night terrors yet the most disturbing creatures ever imagined seem to still come from ancient texts. We are talking about some truly fucked up shite in writings that have somehow become staples of our civilization.

While reading the other day i had to look up a creature referenced that i had not heard of before. It turned out to be one of two monsters that guarded either side of a channel in the Mediterranean see. i will spare the wholly unnatural creature created in this ancient folklore but if you locked me in a haunted house with a sheet of LSD and projected Freaks on loop in the kitchen and i could not have come up with any creature remotely as messed up and truly disturbing as that.

Have you ever actually ever sat down and read Revelations in the best selling book of all time, the Bible? Seven headed monsters eating children from the womb? What the fuck was going on in our early civilizations?

i remember a few years back being disturbed by the movie Hostel. That movie, however, is not nearly and mind-warping as the stories recorded form Greek, Latin, and Biblical times, yet these stories are not rated and are made readily available to people of all ages.

Although, possibly i have this all wrong. Maybe humans from antiquity lacked the creativity to devise stories how man-made machines would produce pollution that ended the human race and instead opted for the hybrid-creatures with multiple dog heads. i am not sure which way i would rather go out. It depends if i had a golden clock-work owl robot to guide my way or not.

i may not sleep for a few nights now. Thanks ancient texts.
