Well, tanks fur nuttin'... it was a complete draw on what lighting works best at house parties, so it looks like anything goes. On to this week's survey. Hopefully it comes out more decisive.
For some time now i have been lobbying for what i believe would be the greatest pay-per-view event ever: a battle royal cage match between Henry Rollins and Glenn Danzig. Now i do realize that Rollins has been a Misfits fan but i have no idea what Danzig thinks of Black Flag or Rollins. Both, however, are on the shorter side and both are jacked. Either would quickly snap me like a well dried twig. It seems like it would be a well matched battle.
i picture Henry barefoot in his trademark black soccer shorts and Glenn in full on Misfits make-up. Although a majority of the audience would most likely be made up of males, i imagine many of them would be absolutely trampled to death by riot girls of all ages storming the stage, riping their clothes off and slamming up against the cage as these clashing punk icons draw blood. The Suicide Girls could hold up numbered cards in between rounds. Taped in HD of course. But i digress.
Back to the survey. Two things brought about this week's question: 1) you cannot read a thread on ANY punk related site without someone calling someone else a 'sell-out'. It's getting absolutely ridiculous, although this has always plagued the scene. 2) An Ad for the new Terminator TV Series came on and they used Danzig's "Mother" as a rather clever soundtrack. Who doesn't like that song?
Now, as i find myself getting older i feel that aging alternative icons deserve to be able to roll into old age without being poor. They deserve a little cash for all that they have done. i can look the other way if Nike wants to sponsor Lance Mountain. i'll hum with my fingers in my ears while Iggy Pop sings behind a cruise commercial. Some folks, however, have gone incredibly overboard, especially in the context of all the money they already have. Exhibit A - The Who who cannot be considered anything but a sell-out.
So where does that fine line lie? This time we review the recent choices of one Glenn Danzig in this week's survey.
