The 'W' in Jr's name stands for WAR. i seem to get angrier and angrier about this every day. i don't know if i should cry or punch someone in the face. Who would i punch? i don't get to see any of those chicken-hawks who started this war so who then?
i keep seeing programs about the injuries and deaths occurring on a daily basis in Iraq. i listen when people talk about it, i feel it's my duty. We are a country at war and we can't forget about that. We can't forget about what's happening to this country's sons and now daughters as well.
It is almost too easy to forget we are at war in this country. The news stations dryly slide the number of deaths for the day in between the most recent b-list celebrity scandal and the location of today's building fire. People drive and shop as this country is not being asked to ration anything, as it has been asked to in past wars. Think of the effects a nationwide rationing of oil would have, not just in this country but over there as well.
Don't pollute our minds with the images of what's happening 'over there', just let us be happy with our obese selves and let us continue to feel better about ourselves as we poke fun of horrible singers on television game shows and the flawed parenting skills of our celebrities. Ha, i'm not as bad as they are, so i must be all right. i've never flashed the paparazzi my shaved bush so i must still be a decent human being.
The public protests get smaller and less frequent as people are forced to realize that our government doesn't listen to us.
Iraq doesn't want us there and we don't want us there. When the House and the Senate tried to set a date to bring our children home Jr showed everyone just how little he really cares about our troops and asked for it to get to his desk as soon as possible so that he can veto it. Insult to injury.
Soldiers are put into conditions where they must fight for their lives and do what they need to in order to get through. The men in ties who make the decision to start these wars never get hurt and the soldiers who get hurt never had the opportunity to make a decision whether or not their should have been a war.
All i can do is keep myself educated in terms of what is going on and remember what is happening to this county's children. They deserve better than this, but at least i can say i will never forget.
